1960 : Bought by Rangers for £17,500
1961 : Helps Rangers win league championships, Runners-up medal in the European Cup Winners' cup as Rangers lose to Fiorentina. Makes debut for Scotland against Northern Ireland.
1963 : Scores two goals at Wembley as Scotland secure a 2-1 win over England. Plays for the rest of the world against England. Wins double with Rangers.
1964 : Rangers win the treble, but later that year Baxter breaks a leg against Rapid Vienna in the European Cup.
1965 : Signs for Sunderland, managed by former Scotland boss Ian McColl, in £72,500 deal
1967 : Moves on to Nottingham Forest for £100,000. Career reaches its peak when he masterminds Scotland's victory over the World Champions England at Wembley. The decisive 3-2 victory for Scotland and the sight of Baxter taunting the English by playing Keepie-up is legendary. But Baxter wins his 34th and final cap just seven months later in a 3-2 victory against Wales
1969 : Rejoins Rangers on a free transfer
1970 : Retires from playing
1994 : Undergoes two liver transplants
2001 : Dies of Cancer on Saturday , 14th April 2001.
